With none out and none on, A's batter Schuemann took a 1-0 sinker and 1-1 curveball from Braves pitcher Jimmy Herget for called first and second strikes, respectively. Replays indicate the pitch ruled strike one was located over the inner edge of home plate and thigh-high (px -0.82, pz 2.55), the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Braves were leading, 9-8. The A's ultimately won the contest, 11-9.
