HP Umpire Jim Reynolds left Tuesday's game in Houston several innings after a foul ball to the mask.
With one out and in the top of the 2nd inning, Royals batter Hunter Dozier fouled a 1-1 95-mph fastball from Astros pitcher Luis Garcia into Reynolds' traditional-style facemask.
Reynolds remained in the game until walking off the field after a swinging strike in the bottom of the 5th inning. 2B Umpire Tony Randazzo assumed acting crew chief duties and took over behind home plate while 1B Umpire Nestor Ceja remained at first and 3B Umpire Todd Tichenor remained at third base.
