*The MLB Umpire Manual states the following relative to Official Baseball Rule 5.10 (mound visits):
Note regarding translators: Standards and On-Field Operations Regulation 2-2 (Occupying the Bench) provides that a full-time interpreter is permitted to enter the playing field during a game to translate for a coach or manager on an official visit to the pitcher as well as for the evaluation of an injury of a player. Interpreters are not permitted onto the playing field under any other circumstances, including when a catcher and/or infielder(s) visit the mound without a coach or manager.Accordingly, the umpires properly instructed the interpreter to exit the playing field, as no coach or manager was on the mound during an official visit to pitcher Oh (nor was there an injury to evaluate), meaning the interpreter—by rule—was not permitted on the field at that time.
This is the 91st ejection report of the 2018 MLB regular season.
