Instant Replay Review overturned 2B Umpire Larry Vanover's safe call and upheld HP Umpire Adrian Johnson's out call in the bottom of the 4th inning of the Indians-Dodgers game. With none out and two on, Dodgers batter Adrian Gonzalez hit a 1-2 slider from Indians pitcher Kyle Crockett on a fly ball to left fielder Michael Brantley, who threw to catcher Yan Gomes as Dodgers baserunner R3 Dee Gordon slid into home plate, to second baseman Jason Kipnis as Dodgers baserunner R1 Yasiel Puig slid into second base. Upon Replay Review as the result of successive challenges by Indians Manager Terry Francona (of Vanover's safe call) and Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly (of Johnson's out call), Vanover's ruling was overturned and Johnson's ruling was affirmed. At the time of the reviews, the Indians were leading, 5-3. The Indians ultimately won the contest, 10-3.
