With two out and one on, Red Sox batter Dustin Pedroia hit a 1-2 fastball from Cubs pitcher Hector Rondon on the ground to third baseman Luis Valbuena, who threw to first baseman Anthony Rizzo as Pedroia arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Red Sox Manager John Farrell, Meals' ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Cubs were leading, 2-1. The Cubs ultimately won the contest, 2-1.
