1B Umpire Jim Joyce ejected Tigers Manager Brad Ausmus for arguing a Replay Review allowance and decision that overturned Joyce's safe call in the top of the 3rd inning of the Tigers-Angels game. With one out and one on, Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker threw to first baseman Albert Pujols in an attempt to pick off Tigers baserunner R1 Eugenio Suarez. Replays indicate Pujols tagged Suarez during his slide and before his touch of first base, the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Angels were leading, 1-0. The Angels ultimately won the contest, 4-0.
