Two bench-clearing brawls during the AA Barons-Suns Southern League game produced six ejections in the 9th inning of the Barons' 5-1 victory. The ejection report is as follows:
HP Umpire Ryan Additon ejected Barons 3B Jeremy Farrell and Suns pitcher Matt Ramsey for fighting, Suns Manager Andy Barkett for arguing Ramsey's ejection, Suns catcher Wilfredo Gimenez for Unsportsmanlike-NEC (inciting a fight) and Barons RF Josh Richmond and LF/bench player Michael Earley for fighting in the top of the 9th inning of the Barons-Suns game. With two out and one on, Barons batter Luis Sierra hit a 0-2 pitch from Suns P Ramsey to right fielder Alex Burg. Replays indicate that after Barons baserunner R2 Farrell scored, he bumped opponent Ramsey who then followed Farrell to his dugout, resulting in the first fracas.
After HP Umpire Additon, 3B Umpire Jose Esteras and 1B Umpire/Crew Chief Matt McCoy conferenced, the trio approached Suns Manager Barkett to inform him of Ramsey's ejection, the subsequent argument resulting in Barkett's ejection for continued argument resulting in a further delay of game. As Barkett threw his hat at the umpires, returned to the Suns dugout and threw two bags of baseballs onto the playing field, Suns C Wilfredo Gimenez charged at the opposing Barons dugout, resulting in a second melee and the remaining ejections for throwing punches during the fight. At the time of the ejections, the Barons were leading, 5-1. The Barons ultimately won the contest, 5-1.
