In the 4th, with one out and one on, Cubs pitcher Edwin Jackson threw to first baseman Anthony Rizzo on a pickoff attempt of Reds baserunner R1 Devin Mesoraco. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Cubs Manager Rick Renteria, Gibson's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Reds were leading, 1-0.
In the 9th, with two out and none on, Cubs batter Justin Ruggiano hit a 3-2 fastball from Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman on a fly ball to right field near the top of the outfield wall. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Cubs Manager Renteria and initiation by Crew Chief Dale Scott, Scott's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Reds were leading, 4-1. The Reds ultimately won the contest, 4-1.
