Instant Replay Review overturned 1B Umpire Jerry Layne's safe call in the bottom of the 5th inning of the Nationals-Cubs game. With two out and none on, Cubs batter Chris Coghlan hit a 0-2 curveball from Nationals pitcher Tanner Roark on the ground to shortstop Ian Desmond, who threw to first baseman Adam LaRoche as Coghlan arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of challenge by Nationals Manager Matt Williams, Layne's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Cubs were leading, 4-2. The Cubs ultimately won the contest, 7-4.
