Instant Replay Review overturned HP Umpire Gerry Davis' HBP no-call (ball) in the bottom of the 3rd inning of the Red Sox-Athletics game. With none out and none on, A's batter Craig Gentry took a 1-1 cutter from Red Sox pitcher Felix Doubront for a called second ball. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Athletics Manager Bob Melvin, Davis 'ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 3-3. The Athletics ultimately won the contest, 4-3.
