Instant Replay Review upheld 1B Umpire Mike Estabrook's out call in the bottom of the 8th inning of the Blue Jays-Orioles game. With two out and two on, Orioles batter Nelson Cruz hit a 3-1 fastball from Blue Jays pitcher Dustin McGowan on the ground to shortstop Jose Reyes, who threw to first baseman Edwin Encarnacion as Cruz arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Orioles Manager Buck Showalter, Estabrook's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Blue Jays were leading, 4-0. The Blue Jays ultimately won the contest, 4-0.
