Instant Replay Review confirmed 1B Umpire Pat Hoberg's safe call in the bottom of the 9th inning of the Mets-Giants game. With none out and none on, Giants batter Angel Pagan swung at and missed a 1-2 changeup from Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia that flew to the backstop, where it was fielded by catcher Anthony Recker, who threw to first baseman Lucas Duda as Pagan arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Mets Manager Terry Collins, Hoberg's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Mets were leading, 4-3. The Giants ultimately won the contest, 5-4.
