Instant Replay Review confirmed 1B Umpire Eric Cooper's safe call in the bottom of the 7th inning of the Astros-Mariners game. With two out and three on, Mariners batter Michael Saunders hit a 3-2 fastball from Astros pitcher Tony Sipp on the ground to first baseman Jesus Guzman, who threw to Sipp as Saunders arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Astros Manager Bo Porter, Cooper's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Mariners were leading, 2-1. The Mariners ultimately won the contest, 3-1.
