Instant Replay Review confirmed 1B Umpire Bill Welke's foul ball (no HR) call in the top of the 3rd inning of the Cardinals-Pirates game. With two out and one on, Cardinals batter Matt Adams hit a 0-2 curveball from Pirates pitcher Edinson Volquez on a fly ball to deep right field and beyond the foul pole. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny and initiation by Crew Chief Brian Gorman, Welke's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Cardinals were leading, 3-0. The Pirates ultimately won the contest, 4-3.
