HP Umpire Tom Woodring ejected Cubs Manager Rick Renteria for arguing balls and strikes in the bottom of the 5th inning of the Cubs-White Sox game. With none out and three on, White Sox batter Paul Konerko hit a first-pitch cutter from Cubs pitcher Travis Wood for a three-RBI double; Renteria was ejected during the pitching change directly subsequent to this at-bat. Replays indicate the bottom of the 5th inning prior to Renteria's ejection contained only four callable pitches, all during Alexei Ramirez's at-bat, which ended in a walk; the pitches were properly officiated (#1 [pz 1.514 < sz_bot 1.59], #2 [pz -.122 < sz_bot], #3 [pz .967 < sz_bot], #4 px -1.652]), the call was correct. At the time of the review, the White Sox were leading, 7-3. The White Sox ultimately won the contest, 8-3.
