Instant Replay Review overturned 1B Umpire Mark Wegner's safe call in the top of the 2nd and upheld Wegner's foul ball call in the top of the 9th inning of the Blue Jays-Royals game. In the 2nd, with two out and two on, Blue Jays batter Chris Getz hit a 1-1 change up from Royals pitcher Jason Vargas on the ground to second baseman Omar Infante, who threw to first baseman Eric Hosmer as Getz arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Royals Manager Ned Yost, Wegner's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Blue Jays were leading, 1-0.
In the 9th, with one out and none on, Blue Jays batter Dioner Navarro hit a 1-1 slider from Royals pitcher Louis Coleman on the fly down the right field line and past the foul pole. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons and initiation by Crew Chief Bob Davidson, Wegner's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Royals were leading, 10-7. The Royals ultimately won the contest, 10-7.
