Instant Replay Review overturned HP Umpire Phil Cuzzi's HBP (dead ball) call in the top of the 2nd inning of the Yankees-Red Sox game. With one out and two on, Yankees batter Carlos Beltran took a 1-1 curveball from Red Sox pitcher Felix Doubront in the dirt. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Yankees Manager Joe Girardi, Cuzzi's ruling that the pitched ball made contact with Beltran and thus was a dead ball hit-by-pitch was reversed to a wild pitch, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Yankees were leading, 3-0. The Yankees ultimately won the contest, 14-5.
