MLB Instant Replay Review 143: Marty Foster (03)
Instant Replay Review confirmed HP Umpire Marty Foster's out call in the top of the 9th inning of the Cardinals-Mets game. With one out and two on, Cardinals batter Daniel Descalso hit a 2-0 sinker from Mets pitcher Kyle Farnsworth on a fly ball to center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who threw to shortstop Ruben Tejada to catcher Travis d'Arnaud as Cardinals baserunner R1 Matt Carpenter arrived at home plate via a slide. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny, Foster's ruling that d'Arnaud's glove tagged the back of Carpenter prior to Carpenter's touch arrival at home plate was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Mets were leading, 3-2. The Mets ultimately won the contest, 3-2.
This is Marty Foster (60)'s fourth Instant Replay Review of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
