Instant Replay Review upheld HP Umpire James Hoye's HBP no-call (swinging strike that hit the batter; dead ball, batter is out) in the top of the 6th inning of the White Sox-Rangers game. With none out and two on, White Sox batter Alejandro De Aza attempted to check his swing on a 1-2 pitch from Rangers pitcher Robbie Ross, Jr. that resulted in a dead ball, De Aza ruled to have attempted to strike the pitch by 3B Umpire Bob Davidson. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by White Sox Manager Robin Ventura, Hoye's ruling that De Aza was not entitled to first base as the result of a hit-by-pitch was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the White Sox were leading, 5-2. The White Sox ultimately won the contest, 16-2.
