Instant Replay Review overturned HP Umpire Ed Hickox's out call in the bottom of the 8th inning of the Mariners-Marlins game. With none out and three on, Marlins batter Garrett Jones hit a 0-0 change up from Mariners pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen on the ground to first baseman Justin Smoak, who threw to catcher John Buck as Marlins baserunner R3 Christian Yelich arrived at home plate. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Marlins Manager Mike Redmond, Hickox's ruling that Buck caught the baseball and tagged home plate prior to Yelich's arrival was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Mariners were leading, 2-1. The Marlins ultimately won the contest, 3-2.
