Instant Replay Review upheld 2B Umpire Jim Reynolds' out call in the bottom of the 7th inning of the Brewers-Pirates game. With one out and two on, Pirates baserunner R1 Pedro Alvarez attempted to steal second base on a 1-1 slider from Brewers pitcher Zach Duke to catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who threw to second baseman Scooter Gennett as Alvarez arrived at second base, R3 Andrew McCutchen to third. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle, Reynolds' ruling that Gennett caught the ball and tagged Alvarez prior to his arrival was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Pirates were leading, 5-2. The Pirates ultimately won the contest, 11-2.
