Instant Replay Review overturned 1B Umpire CB Bucknor's safe call in the top of the 9th inning of the Royals-Astros game. With none out and none on, Royals batter Lorenzo Cain hit a 0-2 curveball from Astros pitcher Josh Fields on the ground to shortstop Marwin Gonzalez, who threw to first baseman Jesus Guzman as Cain arrived at first base. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Astros Manager Bo Porter, Bucknor's ruling that Guzman did not catch the ball and tag first base prior to Cain's arrival was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 4-4. The Royals ultimately won the contest, 6-4, in 11 innings.
