Instant Replay Review overturned 2B Umpire Mike Winters' safe call in the top of the 8th inning of the Tigers-Padres game. With one out and one on, Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal attempted to pickoff Tigers baserunner Nick Castellanos, Grandal to Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera as Castellanos dove back into second base. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Padres Manager Bud Black, Winters' ruling that Cabrera did not tag Castellanos prior to Castellanos' retreat into second base was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Tigers were leading, 4-2. The Tigers ultimately won the contest, 6-2.

what he do yesterday?
ReplyDeleteFP Santangelo calling Bryce Harper "Bruce Harper" the former Jet Defensive back is actually hilarious considering Harper plays EVERY day for the team FP announcer for.
ReplyDeleteI like how if the play gets overturned, it's the replay doing its job. If it stands or confirms, it's a huge conspiracy. Maybe it's not "showing up their brethren" maybe it's actually what they think. Why has nobody said that yet?
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful I do not have to listen to the nat's announcers everyday.
ReplyDeleteHe had a bunch of plays at second base yesterday - more than usual.
ReplyDeleteI said it back in Spring Training, remember?
ReplyDeleteTrue, but until they started ripping on the replay process, they were pretty entertaining in this clip. At least I thought. I'm usually not one to stick up for the announcers, but they had to have something to talk about during that 5 minute gap.
ReplyDeleteIf you actually knew what you're talking about, you'd know that the Bruce Harper thing was a running gag based on the Atlanta fans routinely booing Harper. FP joked that they thought he was Bruce and we're calling him that, not booing. Start an announcer bashing blog if you want, you know it all.
ReplyDeleteNo I don't but I give you full credit :P
