MLB Instant Replay Review 032: Dana DeMuth (03)

Instant Replay Review confirmed HP Umpire Dana DeMuth's Rule 7.13 home-plate collision violation no-call (safe) in the top of the 3rd inning of the Yankees-Blue Jays game. With two out and one on, Yankees batter Jacoby Ellsbury hit a 1-2 knuckleball from Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey on a line drive to center fielder Colby Rasmus, who threw to catcher Josh Thole as Yankees baserunner R2 Francisco Cervelli arrived at home plate. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a request by Yankees Manager Joe Girardi and initiation by Crew Chief DeMuth, DeMuth's ruling that Thole legally tagged Cervelli and did not violate the provisions of the anti-collision Rule 7.13, resulting in an out, was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Blue Jays were leading, 1-0. The Blue Jays ultimately won the contest, 4-0.

We could of had 35 potential exciting ejections this year already but instead we have 35 really boring times of just watching umpires with head sets on for 2-5 minutes. I'm glad they are getting the call right (most of the time) It sure is a lot less entertaining though.
