Instant Replay Review confirmed 2B Umpire Jerry Layne's safe call in the top of the 4th inning of the Rockies-Marlins game. With none out and two on, Rockies batter DJ LeMahieu hit a 1-0 fastball from Marlins pitcher Henderson Alvarez to second baseman Derek Dietrich, who threw to shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria as Rockies baserunner R1 Jordan Pacheco arrived at second. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Marlins Manager Mike Redmond, Layne's ruling that Hechavarria failed to tag second base while in possession of the ball was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Rockies were leading, 3-1. The Rockies ultimately won the contest, 6-5.
