Instant Replay Review confirmed 2B Umpire Ron Kulpa's safe call in the bottom of the 8th inning of the Red Sox-Yankees game. With one out and one on, Yankees batter Dean Anna hit a 2-2 sinker from Red Sox pitcher Burke Badenhop on a line drive to right field, off the ball, to right fielder Daniel Nava, who threw to shortstop Xander Bogaerts as Anna arrived at second base. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Red Sox Manager John Farrell, Kulpa's ruling that Bogaerts did not tag Anna while Anna was off his base was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Yankees were leading, 7-4. The Yankees ultimately won the contest, 7-4.
