Instant replay reversed 2B Umpire Jeff Gosney's out call in the top of the 1st and affirmed 1B Umpire Gosney's out call in the top of the 9th inning of the Nationals-Mets game. In the 1st, with one out and one on, Nationals baserunner R1 Bryce Harper attempted to steal second base on a 1-0 pitch from Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia and throw from catcher Anthony Recker to second baseman Daniel Murphy. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by Nationals Manager Matt Williams, Gosney's ruling that Murphy tagged Harper prior to Harper touching second base was overturned, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 0-0.
In the 9th, with one out and one on, Nationals batter Adrian Sanchez hit a 0-0 pitch from Mets pitcher Bobby Parnell to shortstop Ruben Tejada, who threw to first baseman Lucas Duda as Sanchez arrived at first base. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by Nationals Manager Matt Williams, Gosney's ruling that Duda caught the ball and tagged first base prior to Sanchez's touch arrival was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Mets were leading, 3-1. The Mets ultimately won the contest, 3-1.
