Instant replay confirmed 2B Umpire Jon Byrne's out call in the top of the 8th inning of the Cardinals-Mets game. With none out and one on, Cardinals baserunner R1 Mike O'Neill attempted to steal second base on a 1-2 pitch from Mets pitcher Vic Black to catcher Anthony Recker who threw to second baseman Wilmer Flores as O'Neill slid towards second base. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny, Byrne's ruling that Flores tagged O'Neill's left arm while O'Neill was not in contact with a base was upheld, the call was correct. At the time of the instant replay review, the Cardinals were leading, 5-3. The contest ultimately ended in a tie, 5-5.
