The first improper umpire mechanics were on display on the foul ball that hit Tim Timmons on the left field line. U3 Rob Drake was already signalling "fair" on a ball that was behind him. That's Timmons' call -- and he made it, too. Good thing they both signalled fair!
Will Close Call Sports be doing a write up of Henderson Alvarez's no-hitter?
You missed Kulpa nearly falling over the runner as he slid into third and bounded home last night.
From the GIF that was posted, it looked like Timmons was going to call it foul.
No, he was throwing his arms up in the air to get out of the way. It wasn't even touching the line and it was in front of him. Why would he call it foul?
Brain fart? I'm just saying it "looked" like he was going to call it foul. From the motions he used to get away from it, he came very close to raising both his hands above his head.
It looks to me like he Drake turned and saw that TImmons was trying to get out of the way, meaning he probably doesn't have a good look at the call since he's moving, and made the call instead since he's set.
TB@CLE: Barrett's call of Brantley being safe was correct, not inconclusive. Great call.
I agree. No way was Brantley out. The view from 2nd base is conclusive,
Barrett got it right at first.
Gerry Davis had a great night behind the plate. I really like that he's not afraid to get the high strike.
