MLB Ejections 163, 164: B Gorman (1, 2; Cabrera, Leyland)

HP Umpire Brian Gorman ejected Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera and Manager Jim Leyland for arguing a dead ball strike (check swing) call in the top of the 1st inning of the Tigers-White Sox game. With two out and none

on, Cabrera attempted to check his swing on a 0-1 slider from White Sox pitcher Chris Sale. Replays indicate the inside pitch hit Cabrera's shin as or in temporal proximity to Cabrera's bona fide attempt to strike the pitch, the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the contest was tied, 0-0. The White Sox ultimately won the contest, 5-1.
