Both Hamari (Cubs-Brewers) and Little make their plate debuts today. Little and Machado both collect their first career hooks.
i saw this coming. This is going back to last night after little blew the call at first in which machado was called out.
Kind of lame on Machado's part if that's true. The team needs him way too much to lose him trying to snipe with the umpire a day later.
For his inaugural performance [thus far], Little has turned an impressive plot: http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/zoneTrack.php?month=6&day=27&year=2013&game=gid_2013_06_27_clemlb_balmlb_1/&prevDate=0627
Hamari, on the other hand, was [at least] consistent: http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/zoneTrack.php?month=6&day=27&year=2013&game=gid_2013_06_27_chnmlb_milmlb_1/&prevDate=0627
Will and Hammer congrats. Two top notch people who are great umpires!

"I swung at a bad pitch. I thought I fouled it off. Obviously, I
looked back on the replay, and I didn't," Machado said after the Orioles
7-3 victory. "Something that I said wrong to the umpire, and I have to
pay the consequences for it. Let my team down. Obviously, something that
won't happen again."
He did not specify what he said, but he said he felt the ejection was justified.
"It was an expletive, and then something directed at [Little]," crew
chief Ted Barrett said. "So that's an automatic ejection. He knows
that."
I've always thought MLB plate umpires wear two ball bags, but Will was wearing only one ball bag tonight. Are there any other MLB plate umpires who usually wear only one ball bag?
Dan Bellino rocks the one bagger
As the hispanic umpires like Hernandez, Marquez, and Diaz.
I hate when people assume that the player ejected did not say something to warrant an ejection. Mitch Williams, on MLB Network, said is was terrible Machado was ejected, because all he said was "Wow".
Iassogna, Laz, Fonzie, Cubby, etc. There are a few.
Unrelated to Will's ejection, but I saw on the sidebar that Angel Campos had an EJ in AAA....does anyone know if he is rehabbing or just slowing being ushered out...
Angel Hernandez, Dan Iassogna, Chris Guccione, Brian O'Nora, Tim McClelland, CB Bucknor, etc.
Incredibly quick hook. And you never whack someone from behind. Just bad, all around. We'll see you back in the minors soon, Will.
Dan Iasogna, Tim Timmons, Chris Guicione, CB Bucknor, and Alfonzo Marquez all come to mind as single bag wearers as well. It's purely a personal preference thing.
They are teaching at the Fall League to be aggressive and call strikes. That what the boys are doing!
lol troll
It appears they are slowly fazing him out. For the last 5 years Campos had been a rover in AAA meaning he wasn't assigned to one particular crew since he was probably going to get quite a few MLB games. Guys like Muchlinski, Reyburn, Estabrook, Blaser, etc. are the rovers right now. But this year Campos is not a rover but a Crew Chief on a crew with Nick Bailey and Greg Stanzak. CC's usually do not work as many MLB games so that is guys like Basner, Wolcott and Ripperger. Not only did he take a step down in his Call-up stature but he is also yet to work an MLB game all season. So based on those facts it seems like the MLB is slowly pushing him aside.
For the record, that was Campos 6th ejection of the season last night which is 2nd place in the PCL.
Speaking of Quinn Wolcott, he's up again for the White Sox DH today
Approval
it looked like he said " wow. you got to be f@cking kidding me.
I worked for the Bowie Baysox AA team for the O's. watched machado get tossed a few times for saying "wow you're fucking terrible" to umps. He's a young chump. Also watched him hit for the cycle in Bowie too though.
Nice to see Machado get taken down a rung or two for a change.
Go home, Bob. You're drunk.
My All-Star Game Umpire Picks:
HP- Cederstrom
1B- Cuzzi
2B- Vanover
3B- Bell
LF- Gibson
RF- Hoye
It would be nice to see Danley or Winters there. I haven't really seen them this season but I've always liked the way they call games.
I also was considering Kellogg behind the plate. One of the best in the business as far as I am an concerned.
Blaser just blew a call in Minnesota in which Morneau was safe but called out. At this point I would pick Estabrook over him for the next opening.
What about DJ Reyburn?
very fitting that an umpire's first career ejection was also the first career ejection for that player.
Haven't seen video of this - at least on MLB network.
Just read an article on SI.com that says Runge failed a drug test last season, but made a deal with the league to keep umpiring. This year he did not meet these terms and was released.
Where is the video?
