Brian O'Nora's serious medical condition is an intestinal tear; accordingly, O'Nora is out indefinitely. Last Friday,
O'Nora hastily exited the Phillies-Mets game in the first inning. Initially reported by beat reporters as "O'Nora swallowed his chew," MLB PR quickly diffused the charges, noting that O'Nora not only left the game due to a "serious medical condition," but that O'Nora does not even use "any tobacco products."

O'Nora before his plate game in the 2012 World Series |
O'Nora's abrupt absence caused Fieldin Culbreth's crew of Adrian Johnson and Bill Welke to be without a fourth umpire Friday. On Tuesday, "Country" Joe West, fresh off his Triple-A MiLB rehab assignment that
took him to Oklahoma City, joined Culbreth and company as the third base umpire for the 4/30/13 White Sox vs. Rangers game in Arlington.
MLB indicated there is no timetable for O'Nora's return.
O'Nora and West
both were selected to work the 2012 World Series; O'Nora had home plate for the Giants' clincher.

Chicago at Texas......
Seems like the umpire crews are nothing like they were supposed to be to start the season.
Well, now I feel bad for ripping on the dude for something he supposedly doesn't even do. So anyone think this West kid will be a constant in the majors? Heard he wasnt bad.
(So since West is a AAA replacement, wonder if his points will be done as such? J/K)
Wow, that sucks. I rescind my criticisms of him for falling down on the job for a tobacco-related injury. Intestinal tears are no joke....
I wish Brian O'Nora the best. He's a good umpire, so hopefully he'll be back soon.
Apparently Tom Hallion along with Rays pitchers David Price, Jeremy Hellickson, and Matt Moore were fined by MLB for the incident on 4/28.

Is it just me or is this a slow and boring ejection year thus far?
Last year, we had 18 ejections at the conclusion of games played, 5/2/12. This season, coming into 5/2/13, we have 26. This suggests that thus far, ejections are actually up in 2013 compared to 2012.
Wait.. Why was West in Triple A???
It doesnt seem like it. Must just be because they are not as entertaining as last year. Are you counting the spring training ejections as well? It really doesnt seem like we have had 26 already. Hard to keep track with all the TFFL stuff on the site as well.
Good, they all deserved it for acting like children!
Need West back in MLB! He's doing me no good in the minors.
Brian O'Nora is back Today in Houston after missing just 11 days.
