Dear MLB:
What have you done with the real CB? Please return him...this guy isn't as much fun.
Easy call. Clint Hurdle is an A-hole.
great call,
not real sure the argument,
the ball beat him, but it's a tag play and watching it in real time, you could tell he was safe,
cb handled it perfectly,
this ejection reminds me so much of gary darling running clint last year...clint refuses to say the magic words as his blood boils and boils...cb just says "you had your say" over and over again...i love the ej mechanic, its as calm as a swinging strike call
CB Bucknor... cool as the other the other side of the pillow!
not sure if this is the right place to post this but I don't know where else to do it since there is no contact us link.... Anyway, how come nobody has any case points in the UEFL standings? Sorry if there's a better place for me to post this - I couldn't find it.
Great call CB! I always though that he got a bum wrap for his very small strike zone and some of the mistakes he made at first base in the 2009 ALDS.
Check under standings in the UEFL Portal. The points are broken down there.
I think Hurdle was arguing because the Pirates were playing like crap. One of them "not having their manager will somehow make them play better" moments.
I'm glad to CB watching the entire play and not just jumping to "out" just because the ball beat him to the bag. I feel if Russell Martin was actually blocking the plate, they would would have gotten the out. Great call.
Funny, I was thinking the same thing. I will say this, for as much crap as I give CB (I have him in the lowest tier of top performers, the lowest 10%, along with Angel Hernandez, Jerry Meals, and Phil Cuzzi) he definitely is not confrontational and always engages the coaches respectfully.
He got the call right, he handled the situation well - but did anyone else notice that his safe call was happening so fast?! That's dangerous timing.
PS - I respect the manager's actions, tight play, catcher was upset. Get tossed to protect your catcher and to pump up your team.
I have to disagree with you on one point: Hurdle was not tossed protecting Martin. Martin had been out of the conversation for a long time before Hurdle got tossed; he can't have been protecting someone who no longer needed protecting.
