HP Umpire Jordan Baker ejected Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco for throwing at Yankees third baseman Kevin Youkilis in the top of the 4th inning of the Yankees-Indians game. With two out and one on, Yankees batter Robinson Cano hit a 1-1 changeup from Carrasco to left field for a two RBI home run. The next batter, Youkilis, then took a 1-0 fastball high and inside for a hit by pitch. At the time of the ejection, the Yankees were leading, 7-0. The Yankees ultimately won the contest, 14-1.

Video: After surrendering a two-run shot to Robbie Cano, Carrasco plunks Youk, is thrown out
Bush league. Carrasco freakin' making his first MLB start since that July 29 game in 2011, coming off his suspension for throwing at yet another batter's head and what does he do? Throws at Youk on purpose and rightly is again ejected. POS punk.
ReplyDeleteIs this a major league baseball game or me getting my pitcher ejected for throwing at a guy after a HR in MLB The Show. Ridiculously stupid and immature performance by Carrasco there, pitchers are using deadly weapons at 90+ miles per hour. Should be automatically ejected from his next 10 starts just for having a two-game consecutive throwing at a guy ejection streak.
ReplyDeletebaker didn't think that one out very well...throwing the ball to carrasco and then tossing him!?! looks pretty amateur there and should be more definitive....but definitely agree with the EJ.
ReplyDeletealso in regards to the AAA guys, john tumpane had a great game in detroit today- toronto commentors were praising him lots and he nailed a banger at the plate
Good ejection but I must question why Baker gave him a ball then tossed him. Seems like asking for trouble to me.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Here's a ball, oh by the way, you're outta here! Let's just let Carrasco throw a baseball at someone else's head, giving him a preliminary ejection for next time. HAT TRICK!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing. We've seen Blaser and Tumpane up. It's a good sign for Tumpane, who we haven't seen much of since the play at the plate in Detroit a few years back. He's still young, too.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that while feeling out the situation, baker tossed Carrasco the ball, then Carrasco said something to Youkilis that made Baker think that he was throwing at him on purpose. That's why he ran him when he did.
ReplyDeleteGotta give the Indian broadcast team credit - they had the clip of Corrasco nailing Butler up in mere seconds after the Youkilis HBP... another five games, Carlos?
ReplyDeleteWhy did Baker permit Francona to discuss this for so long?
ReplyDeleteThere should be no argument here.
