it's not that complicated!!!
happy election day!!
BTW Gil,
ReplyDeleteIf a candidate or proposal does not receive 50% vote of ALL ballots (even he/it are receiving 50% of the vote within the proposal itself), what happens?
If a two-option proposal (Polls 1, 2, 4-12) receives less than an absolute majority, but would otherwise quality for simple majority passage, it is subject to Commissioner review (which may or may not be in accordance with whatever is happening within the proposal itself). We might go to a simple majority next time around, though being able to fine-tune proposals to the end via "review" is a motivator for the absolute majority option wherein >50% didn't actually cast a yes vote. It tells me the community is still fairly divided and we should take care before changing the item.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of a three-option proposal (3, 13), it is a plurality.
In the case of Appeals Board Polls 14-17, a simple majority retains, a 50-50 split = Commissioners' casting vote.
You may want to bump this to the top for the final couple days of polling.
ReplyDeleteAlbertaumpire was only a vote or two ahead on retention this morning...
ReplyDeleteAnd somehow picked up 20+ votes today in his favor. Hmm...
if we recall alberta umpire was also the guy who had very few votes and all of a sudden was at the top of the original appeals board voting. I'm not saying i'm just saying....
ReplyDeleteSomebody has A LOT of free time!!!
