Ejection 133: Scott Barry (1)

HP Umpire Scott Barry ejected Royals Manager Ned Yost for arguing a strike three call in the top of the 8th inning of the Royals-Rays game. With none out and none on, Royals batter Eric Hosmer took a 2-2 changeup from Rays pitcher James Shields for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located knee high and over the outer edge of home plate (pz of 1.62), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Royals were leading, 4-1. The Royals ultimately won the contest, 5-3.

This is Scott Barry (87)'s first ejection of 2012.
Scott Barry now has 4 points in the UEFL (0 Previous + 2 MLB + 2 Correct Call = 4).
Crew Chief Gary Darling now has 9 points in the UEFL's Crew Division (8 Previous + 1 Correct Call = 9).

  1. I'm not sure if it is possible to change the arrangement of the posts on the website, but technically the Barry ejection should come before the Campos and Hickox one's as that happened much earlier in the day. It should be also labeled ejection 133, with Campos 134 and Hickox 135.

  2. Surprising to see Barry and Hickox getting ejections. Campos, not so much.

  3. Yost comes off as a complete douchebag in almost every ejection.

It's a shame they cut the field mic right as Yost begins cursing.

  4. So who are we down to in terms of umpires without any ejections this season?

  5. Guccione,Davis,Cuzzi,Kulpa,Wolf,Rapuano,Hernandez,
    Fletcher,Demuth,Bell,Barrett,Runge,Barksdale,
    Johnson,Reynolds,Blaser,Rackley,Basner,Lollo,
    Tumpane,Ripperger.

Obviously the last couple on the list have not had many opportunities to eject on the Major League level but I included everybody who has worked and MLB game this year.

  6. Some of those names are surprises. Guccione is usually good for at least 3 a year. Cuzzi usually gets in at least 1. Kulpa usually has at least 2. Hernandez is usually good for at least 4 a year.

  11. The last 3 ejections are missin the UEFL tag on the post, so don't show up on a search for UEFL.

  13. Now that is how you handle a situation after ejection. Am I the only one noticing Scott Barry developing into a future star!!

  14. Nice call. Looked low on the CF camera, but the 3rd base low angle showed the truth.

  15. I'm pretty sure at around 41 seconds Yost and Barry both wipe chew spit off their chins. That's some old school baseball there.

He gets an A+ here. As opposed to how he handled Ryan Howard last year (for which he gets an F). Looks like he is coming into his own, good for him! I hope he is part of the 80% quality officials as opposed to the 20% in the basement. =)
