Ejections: Bill Welke (1)

HP Umpire Bill Welke ejected Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista for arguing strike calls in the bottom of the 6th inning of the Rays-Blue Jays game. With none out and none on, Bautista swung at and missed a 3-2 curveball from Rays pitcher James Shields for strike three. To begin the at bat, Bautista took the 0-0 pitch and the 0-1 pitch for called strike one and two respectively. Replays indicate that both pitches were within the confines of the strike zone, the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Rays were leading, 4-1. The Rays ultimately won the contest, 6-1.
