Challenge! This is a borderline call, and since you can't realistically expect it to be called differently, this must be correct.
This ruling has been challenged.
After review, the Quality of Correctness has been overturned. The call is now correct.
Upon initial examination, the pitch appeared to be located off the outside corner of home plate.
Upon further examination, including examination of the replay and real-time play, the determination of overturning the original Quality of Correctness was made. Upon further consultation of the initial play, it was determined that the pitch is borderline, centered no more than one inch outside of the strike zone so that the edge of the plot (#4) is touching the border of the strike zone. By UEFL Rule 6.b.ii.a., therefore, the Quality of Correctness for this ejection, ruled a strike on the field, shall be correct.
Overturned.

How is it that two vacation replacement umpires are allowed on the same crew? Mike Everitt and Chris Guccione are gone from this crew. I thought I remember reading somewhere that there was a rule that only one regular umpire per crew could take a vacation at a given time. Unless Everitt and Guccione are on another crew, and I'm not aware of it.
I also find it interesting that Jim Joyce is now working on Brian Gorman's crew, and Larry Vanover took Joyce's spot on Derryl Cousins' crew. I wonder if this is a permanent change, or if it's temporary. That's certainly a weird dynamic with the 18 year veteran Gorman as the crew chief for 22 year veteran Joyce.
Dan,I believe that Joyce and Vanover probably switched just for the weekend. Galarraga was pitching tonight for Arizona and I believe he and Joyce wrote a co-authored a book during the off-season.
Muchlinski seemed very professional here. I think Bradley may have bumped him right before he got tossed too.
Good point, you're probably right. I didn't think of the Galarraga situation. I guess it's sort of like how Jim Wolf can't umpire when his brother Randy is pitching.
There are some new guys I like and some I don't. Muchlinski has grown on me. I hope he gets more games at the MLB level. I'd like to see what he can do.

When I watched the MLB.com video of Muchlinski ejecting Bradley, the Cubby clip was the next one that played, making me think it was also from last night.
@Bill, no problem. For whatever reason, 2008 videos are showing up as the "related videos" for all these ejections. Not sure why. It's always good to revisit past ejections. That's how we get case play references, and how we learn. The UEFL Banner is dedicated to the rich history of baseball umpiring. No need to apologize for a history lesson!
And really, who can resist a good old fashioned ejection over one of our favorite rules regarding Interference/Obstruction, anyway? UEFLers love that kind of stuff!

I hate the networks' on-screen pitch track devices. Some of them aren't even as wide as the plate! And a lot of them only show where the ball was caught, not the path. And the commentators don't even always agree with them. I saw a game last week where the pitch track clearly showed a ball, and the commentator still said that a strike call should have been made. Homer all the way.
Breaking news: Bradley designated for assignment today, along with Ryan Langerhans.
