  1. Whether the call was correct or incorrect, Bellino could have been a little too far away from the base to actually make an accurate call..

  2. Make no mistake about it Dan Bellino is a rising star. Great call well handled with a touch of class.. while i wasn't sold on the Bellino hire it appears to be a good one.

  3. Love bellino- totally calm, cool, and collected...davidson and some of those other clowns could DEFINITELY learn something from him.

  4. Too far away? It's a force play. Does another 5 feet make it easier to see a foot on a base?

Actually, I'd argue a little distance is a good thing on a play like this -- it allows Bellino to see the whole picture -- ball in glove, foot on bag. Arguing he's too far away sounds like something a coach/manager would try to argue while showing they have no understanding of umpiring.

  5. Text book handling of the situation. You can see by the look on his face when it starts gettin personal, and he's shaking his head almost in disbelief at Quade as he's running him. Great call as well...

  6. I'd like to see a replay of that play. I'm not sure Drew's foot was on the base when he caught the ball. But I do give Bellino props for the way he handled himself.

  8. Props to Dan. Correct call or not (I still can't tell), he lets Quade have his say, runs him when it's gone on too long, and lets Quade look like a complete senile idiot all on his own. Good job.

I really wish they showed a replay because it was close for sure. Great ejection by Bellino, handled it very well..Davidson or Wendlestedt would have gone brim to brim.

Unlike Johnson(who i'm still not sold on) Bellino is showing that his quick move to MLB may have been a good one

  10. If you full screen the video in the link, and pause it at 0:05 - the ball is in the glove, the foot is still on the base.

  11. His demeanor during Quade's tirade was outstanding.

  12. God, this is great...The question must have been something like "how could you make that call?", and Dan's answer was "Because he was out". No big explanation, no histronics, just a simple "because he was out". I wonder what Quade thought when he turned around and saw Dan hadn't moved an inch.

  13. Quade taking over for Piniella and also constantly arguing calls that are correct

  14. Great job by Bellino, but where were his crew mates? Once Quade started to walk toward Bellino a second time, someone should have been there to escort Quade away.
