MLB Ejections 031-32: Greg Gibson (1, 2; Sofield, Hurdle)

HP Umpire Greg Gibson ejected Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle and 1B Coach Rick Sofield for arguing a strike three call in the bottom of the 4th inning of the Blue Jays-Pirates game. With two out and two on, Pirates batter Jordy Mercer took a 1-2 fastball from Blue Jays pitcher Dustin McGowan for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the heart of home plate and at the hollow of the knee (px -.162, pz 1.644 / sz_bot 1.670 [MOE 1.587]), the call was correct. At the time of the ejections, the Blue Jays were leading, 4-1. The Blue Jays ultimately won the contest, 7-2.
