HP Umpire Gerry Davis ejected Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda for an illegal substance (pine tar; Unsportsmanlike-NEC) in the bottom of the 2nd inning of the Yankees-Red Sox game. With two outs and none on, Red Sox batter Grady Sizemore hit a 1-1 fastball from Pineda for a foul ball. After the pitch, upon request from opposing Red Sox Manager John Farrell, Davis approached Pineda and inspected his glove, hand and person for foreign substances before finding an illegal substance on Pineda's neck, resulting in his ejection. Replays indicate Pineda's neck possessed an unnatural shine and the substance was transferred to Davis' hand upon inspection, the call was correct pursuant to Rule 8.02(b).* At the time of the ejection, the Red Sox were leading, 2-0. The Red Sox ultimately won the contest, 5-1.

Just wait until Clay Buchholz's next start vs NY.
I'm gonna guess Buchholz won't be dumb enough to have anything on him.
If I were him, I would count myself lucky that I didn't get busted last time and I wouldn't tempt fate my very next start. If we had a Picard facepalm icon, this would be the perfect place for it.
As an Appeals Board member, I needed this ejection!
