Oh look, Dan Bellino ejected somebody.
Seems like summer might of hit a little early and the ejections are flowing.
Also, like how it looks like he made sure he threw bat & helmet behind him so it didn't get close to the umpire.
What exactly was there to argue about?
And is it just me, or has MLB recently been getting the ejection videos up quickly?
Aviles ejected himself there. Was there another pitch he was upset about? Strike three wasn't even close to not being a strike.
Strike. Sit down crybaby.
@ Umpsrule
I wrote an email to mlb that they need to show the play and the ejection so that the UEFL can fuction properly. I wonder if that worked haha. Is it a bad thing that I am an umpire and my favorite part of MLB is the ejections?
Bellino was very inconsistent tonight and was hearing it from both teams all night. A flip the coin strke zone.
There was nothing wrong with that at-bat from Bellino. There was nothing wrong with that whole half-inning. But I'm sure someone will appeal anyway.
I dont think you should be able to apeal unless you are actually playing in the UEFL. Im sick of people that are not even in the league signing in as anon and apealing.
What a dbag Aviles is. The unmitigated gall of even arguing the 2 called strikes in that at bat.
Go ahead and bring up the boxes on this site of the other 3 at bats Aviles had with Bellino. Mano y Mano to see if Bellino had missed one against him personally all night. Once again Aviles had nothing to whine about all night. Just a big time dbag.
@Anon 8:32 -- I didn't watch the game live, but the pitch chart looks like a pretty consistent and well-called game to me. Only one really egregious strike called on a lefty.

Perhaps appeals should only be allowed by members who sign in as themselves?
Yes, as anonymous at 9:14 said, go ahead and show us the "normalized" strike zone plot for the whole game for Bellino. That 1 pitch was against Johnson of the Rays and it was a called 2nd strike not a called 3rd strike. The next worse strike call was not a called 3rd strike either. Let Aviles cry. Whaaaa, Whaaaa
I didn't watch the game, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with that called third. But I challenge.....LOL No no, just kidding, totally kidding! I just figured someone at this point would have challenged because it seems like anymore an ejection doesn't go by without a challenge. :)
A good strike three call by Bellino for sure but he still has one of the quickest hooks in the game. Aviles says "That pitch was outside" and is immediately ejected by Bellino. Why does he feel the need to eject someone if they say one word to him. It is just ridiculous. During both of his ejections, the ejectee after having already been ejected has turned and yelled "a--hole" at Bellino and Bruce Bochy did the same last year. I wonder what Bellino says to piss them off so much. Most of the lip reading I did came from the Rays broadcast as they did a better job of showing the argument and ejection than NESN did.
People were complaining about umpire Bellino strike zone all night...there was nothing wrong with his zone. he was very consistent all night.
Poor Red Sox, woe is me, umpires have a conspiracy against Boston. Give me a break. Your team is led by Bobby Valentine, a man who got ejected in New York and was so disrespectful to the rules of the game that he put on those stupid glasses and a mustache to stay in the dugout. Quite literally and figuratively a clown.
Thats what you get for having an umpire with connections get to the big leagues
Because all nine callable pitches during the top of the 7th inning were correctly called, this ruling is not eligible for a Balls/Strikes Exemption; any challenge made in this regard, therefore, shall be denied certiorari.

@Anon
Quick hook? Really? Thanks for you input, I disagree 100%.
@Kickersrule: Maybe a better option would be to require all challenges to include support for their challenge instead of just the word "challenge"?
I wonder if Bellino and Balkin Bob have a bet going to see who gets the most hooks this season??
Proposal:
Any challenge must be proposed by a member AND supported by a member. This is important
Ok, this video doesn't show the hook, so I can't know. But the announcer clearly says, "Look out, Aviles in the face of Bellino, and he's ejected." That doesn't sound like he just said something about the location. That sounds like he angrily stepped into Bellino. Would like to actually see the hook.
Can't imagine the reason for arguing though. That was a good pitch and a good call.
"This is what you get when an umpire has connections and gets to the big leagues"
I'm confused? Is the answer that you get an umpire that didn't miss a pitch and thruw out a player that was totally out of line? Why do so many of you hate this guy?
He had a great plate and gets this treatment here? The pitch was, essentially, a cockshot.
Some people have a hardon for Bellino here and, at least for this game, it's completely unjustified.
What connections does he have. His last name doesn't match any current or former major league umpires.
Where's my update on the connections he had to get to the big leagues from Johnson. Go ahead and give us those connections. It would be more interesting than the statement.
